Event with film director Maxim Fadeev
A four-part documentary ‘On the Brink of the Abyss’ shows the combat record of the Donbass assault battalion ‘Somalia’ during the Mariupol operation in the spring of 2022.
All episodes are filmed in first person. The camera leads the viewers through the streets of the city together with the assault team, allowing them to follow the heroes within touching distance.
Retrospective elements are a special feature of this documentary. They refer the viewer back to the period of the Minsk agreements, which allows to reveal the personalities of the ‘Somalia’ elements in more depth and at the same time shows that the war had been on all those eight years before the start of the Special military operation.
The director's intention is to show the realia of war honestly and openly. ‘On the Brink of the Abyss’ is a film-immersion and a film-memorial at the same time.

16:00-17:00 Announcement of the Winners of the 2nd International Generative AI-Film Competition
Winners announcement ceremony and screening of works of the II International AI-film competition MyFilm[48]. Guests of the event will be the first to see the best works of the competition generated with the help of neural networks in the genres of film, animation, gamedev, music video and advertising. The authors of the best works will receive awards from the prize fund of 500,000 roubles and special prizes from the industrial partners of the competition.
MyFilm[48] is an international online competition for content creation based on neural networks. Participants receive a creative assignment and have 48 hours to create original video works in one of five categories, which are evaluated by an expert council on a ten-point scale with the account of creativity, quality of realization and compliance with the task. The best works will be shown on the RUTUBE main page.
The Final of the 3rd Pitching of regional film start-ups Eight innovative projects that are finalists from different Russian regions will present their developments in the field of hardware, software with the use of AI and platform solutions for cinema to an expert jury which will include leading specialists in the technological and investment spheres, as well as well-known Russian producers.

Speaker –Egor Chichkanov, scriptwriter, director, associate professor, PhD in Art History Egor graduated from the St. Petersburg Humanitarian University of Trade Unions, multimedia director. For eight years he taught at the Humanitarian University of Trade Unions, where he received an award as the best young lecturer of the university. He taught several award subjects at the St. Petersburg University of Cinema and Television. He was a finalist of screenwriting competitions held by Yandex and Walt Disney film company. He won international film festivals in Russia, South Korea, the Netherlands, Mexico, Germany, Romania, Colombia, Italy and France, USA, etc. (Short Film Corner of Cannes Film Festival, Asiana Short Film Festival). He is author of more than 200 short works: from films and videos to TV and Internet stories, corporate films, commercials and viral videos. He is one of the lecturers and mentors of THE One Film School.

Speaker – Ira Volkova, director, editor, scriptwriter, producer. Ira Volkova graduated from the Danelia Higher Courses of Scriptwriters and Directors, workshop of feature and non-feature film directors under A. Gerasimov and A. Dobrovolsky. She teaches at the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors as a workshop leader (together with P. Lungin). She headed a workshop at the Higher School of Economics (together with V. Fenchenko). Ira is a prize-winner of many Russian and international film festivals.
The lecture is intended for aspiring filmmakers who want to make their first short film but don't know what it takes, where to start and where to find funding.
