A ten-year-old Alyona feels lonely in the village on summer holidays and wants to make friends with the local ‘gang’ of her peers. However, they set a tough initiation condition: either Alyona agrees to commit a robbery or gives her new trainers to the girl who is the gang leader. Alyona agrees, but while stealing she discovers that her victim is a lonely old man. For the first time Alyona feels not only guilt but also responsibility for her own actions.
