If a child grows up on a film set, does he or she have a chance to avoid becoming a filmmaker? I had none, because I fell in love with the world of cinema, so there was never any dilemma ‘to film or not to film’. The Boy Next Door is a debut feature, which was preceded by extensive studying films and truths, many ups and downs, lots of lessons learnt, but also a huge confidence that everything was going the right way, that I was doing what I should be doing.

Anastasia is a young director, who at the age of 16 made her debut film ‘The Boy Next Door’. She graduated from the directing course of Dmitry Kupovykh’s Moscow film school ‘Free Cinema’. ‘A director is a mirror of the human soul, and this is what I strive to show in my films.’
