Pitching of film startups, screenings of neural network-based films ‘open the door to the future’ and give an idea of new trends in cinematography,’ Dmitry Yakunin, general producer of the Short Film Days festival stressed at the press conference.

‘The film industry is currently developing in Russia, partly owing to a huge number of film festivals, which is very good. Talents need support and feedback, communication with each other and with experts. They need to hear an objective assessment of their work. The festival provides such an opportunity, which is why it is important for us to support such events. Since the very establishment of the Foundation (which was 3.5 years ago) we have already supported 8391 projects worth 31 billion roubles,’ said
Igor Sobolev, First Deputy Director General of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives.
‘Echo’ is a special feature of the film festival, which includes non-commercial screenings of short films in cinemas, museums, libraries, creative clusters and at other venues. This year, screenings are planned at more than 700 venues and in no less than 70 regions of Russia and 25 countries around the world.
The special programme, closing film and jury will be announced later.
