The protagonist is quite a self-sufficient woman of middle age, which is now regarded as a new youth, sharing her apartment with her adult son who has a fiancee. The main character has an affair with Boris, a personable man. Boris also has an grown-up daughter living her own life. The man and the woman understand that they are out in the way of their children while at home, but they do not dare to voice their affair, because they do not understand yet what they mean for each other – everything has been somehow vague so far. Finally, the protagonist’s son, who suddenly returns after a quarrel with his fiancee, suddenly voices a simple idea that scared everyone so much: “Why don't you get married a second time, Mom?” Actually, this crosses all t’s and dots all i’s in this complex, intriguing situation where the main character’s hemming and hawing sound like a continuous monologue.
